Just reframing simple ways to help me cope daily

This being International mental health day allows us to remember the effects of mental health, from mild to severe, and the negative consequences it can have if not managed.

How can we help ourselves?

Let's paint a picture to make this simpler:

The degree of mental health issues vary, however a mild state can also be circumvented by some easy to do techniques.

As a coach I do not treat mental illness, however, things like burnout and stress are real in the world that we live in. We are business owners, sometimes also with families and a myriad of commitments. We often find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, exhausted and demotivated. We end up being moody and irritable and not the people we know ourselves to be. These in turn affect our relationships with our loved ones first. It is important to seek the right support to help you define the areas that can be reframed and managed. I have published a quick guide to help you manage your unique circumstances better. Happy to also do a quick chat to help you navigate the framework. Please click below if you would like a copy or go to https://www.acceleratecoaching.net/contact

I have included a link to a quiz and video about parenting and conversations with your child that I thought was simple but important to remember regarding mental health. There's also a short video just below it that you can watch.

According to Mayo clinic the "Signs and symptoms of mental illness can vary, depending on the disorder, circumstances and other factors. Mental illness symptoms can affect emotions, thoughts and behaviours. Examples of signs and symptoms include:

  • Feeling sad or down

  • Confused thinking or reduced ability to concentrate

  • Excessive fears or worries, or extreme feelings of guilt

  • Extreme mood changes of highs and lows

  • Withdrawal from friends and activities

  • Significant tiredness, low energy or problems sleeping

  • Detachment from reality (delusions), paranoia or hallucinations

  • Inability to cope with daily problems or stress

  • Trouble understanding and relating to situations and to people

  • Problems with alcohol or drug use

  • Major changes in eating habits

  • Sex drive changes

  • Excessive anger, hostility or violence

  • Suicidal thinking

Sometimes symptoms of a mental health disorder appear as physical problems, such as stomach pain, back pain, headaches, or other unexplained aches and pains.

When to see a doctor

If you have any signs or symptoms of a mental illness, see your primary care provider or a mental health professional. Most mental illnesses don't improve on their own, and if untreated, a mental illness may get worse over time and cause serious problems."
