What successful people do…
Have you ever wondered how some people just seem to cope better? Or have more clarity and seem to create more opportunities for themselves?
It’s no wonder some of those successful people in Sports, Politics, Business, Entertainment & Religion etc. have had it still have coaches.
Cristiano Ronaldo has a coach. Barack Obama has a coach. Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey, Tony Robbins all have coaches…
Why can’t I coach myself?
We’re unable as humans to have true reflection by ourselves, like we do during coaching.
There are 3 main reasons why this isn’t easily achieved:
Structure
Perspective
Accountability
Let me elaborate:
Structure Our thoughts about a situation normally go in circles. Your coach stops this process, reflects what you said and asks powerful questions. It is difficult for you to mirror yourself and reflect back, what you just said. And on top of that you need to ask yourself powerful questions you did not think off yet.
Perspective Your upbringing has a huge influence on who you are today. This means, that your view on something is your perspective. A coach would challenge your perspective and question some things you take as a given. To coach yourself, are you able to challenge your beliefs? Usually it does not come to your mind to challenge something that is considered as given.
Accountability Having a plan helps you action and implement the change you want to. A coach keeps you accountable to follow through the plan and to develop your skills. Have you ever tried to keep yourself accountable for a personal change in busy times? Most of the time there are many excuses, why certain actions could not have been done.
Now you know why coaches themselves still have their own coach!
Coaching is an opportunity to co-create unique solutions through guidance & support.
It teaches you techniques and gives you tools to leverage yourself…to forge through roadblocks, understand yourself better and to make the impact you desire!
